Hi all,

I just heard about this rally happening in Brisbane King George Square on 5 December at 11am.

It's protesting Australia's current censorship arrangement of no R18+ rating for video games.

This is an issue I'm passionate about and I'm sure there many others, to find out more visit this link.

cant make it so heree is my 2 cents:

though i wouldnt be able to play them im all for a R18 rating. i dont know why we treat games difrently to movies (or even books!). and besides it would stop (hopefuly) all the stupids who buy their kids games that are MA and complaining (wait why are you buying kids games not ment for people UNDER 15 then complaining its mentaly scared or changed them and blaming the game itself not you lack of GOOD judgement now??).
besides with it we MIGHT get some of the games baned in aus because of the curent raiting system......actualy i think the entire rating system needs a tune up i think americas is a good place to take a basis from ^^"

and end of rant.

My opinion is that Ratings should only ever be a guide. People should be able to watch what they want when they want. It should however be the parent's responsibility to cater to the needs of their children and take the time to "moderate" what their children see and do.

Heaven forbid that people actually take responsibility for their own actions rather than looking for people to blame.

I also agree that there needs to be a MA15+ and an R Rating for games. This will give parents and consumers a much better idead of the content for said games and enable them to make an informed choice.

I also believe that stores should have the right not to sell certain games to certain ages of people in the same way Video Stores have been doing things for years.

And finally I believe that there should be one universal system of ratings. It makes it easier on the consumer, on the authorities, and of course is easier to legislate.

Cheers.

The whole computer game rating & parents getting agro thing has always really confused me. It would be like a parent getting there 14 year old son a copy of playboy & then getting all flustered that it contains pictures of naked women in it. Then going on a morality based yelling spree denouncing the evils of pornography & calling for a ban of all 18+ material. thats why we have raitng you giant stupid people. GRRRRRR!
